Redefining Everyday Mental Wellbeing
Our Mission
The mental health system was built to respond to crisis, but most people don’t live in crisis. They live in the middle. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 8 people worldwide live with a mental disorder. Yet beyond that statistic are millions more navigating stress, anxiety, loneliness, grief, burnout, and uncertainty without meeting the threshold for clinical care. They’re functioning, contributing, and showing up - but quietly struggling.
FOLQ was created to serve that middle. Born from PhD research into clinically aligned, psychologically safe conversational AI, our mission is to provide a space where people can think out loud, unpack complexity, and reflect honestly - without judgement, without stigma, and without needing to medicalise every feeling. We exist to make meaningful mental wellbeing support accessible, anonymous, and available anytime, anywhere.
Our Purpose
When a simple app isn’t enough - but you don’t need a therapist - there has historically been nowhere to go.
Self-help tools can feel superficial. Therapy can be transformative, but it’s not always necessary, accessible, or immediate. And in between those two poles is where most of life happens: the 2am overthinking, the workday overwhelm, the relationship doubts, the private questions you’re not ready to say out loud.
FOLQ was built for that space. Not as AI therapy. Not as crisis intervention. But as a clinically grounded conversational environment designed to preserve human agency, relational safety, and privacy. A place where any conversation is welcome - reflective, practical, emotional, exploratory - and where support exists before things spiral.
Our Impact
By focusing on the continuum between healthy and hospitalised, FOLQ shifts mental wellbeing from reactive to preventative. It creates early, low-barrier support that meets people where they actually are — not where the system traditionally engages them.
For individuals, that means a safe, anonymous space to process life in real time. For organisations, it means scalable, ethical wellbeing infrastructure that supports people before burnout becomes absence, and stress becomes attrition.
Our impact is simple but powerful: normalising everyday support. Expanding access. Reducing stigma. And ensuring that mental wellbeing isn’t reserved for those in crisis or those who can afford private care.
The system wasn’t built for the middle. FOLQ is.
